The Gospel of Jesus needs to reach every person on earth.
"Open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest." John 4:35
Equipping missionaries to reach the lost — for over 70 years.
Light for the Lost is the evangelism-resource ministry of the Assemblies of God. For over 70 years, LFTL has placed Bibles, gospel literature, audio Scripture, training films, and digital tools directly into the hands of AG missionaries serving around the world.
Every dollar given to LFTL must go to evangelism — a single, unwavering standard held since 1953. Here in Tennessee, our local LFTL council partners with the national organization and our Network's missionaries to fund projects on the field, from printing Scripture in unreached languages to producing JESUS Film tools and digital outreach.
A vision that wouldn't let go.
In 1953, a California businessman named Sam Cochran came out of an extended season of prayer with a vision he could not shake. He saw a multitude of people from every nation reaching upward, crying out for a Bible held in a hand from heaven. Before they could grasp it, a door swung open beneath them and they fell — having never heard the gospel.
"Give us the Book!"
That cry compelled Sam to act. He gathered a small group of Assemblies of God laymen committed to raising funds for gospel literature, and in 1953 they formed the Missionary Gospel Society. In 1959, the organization was incorporated into the national Assemblies of God and adopted the name we know today: Light for the Lost.
More than 70 years later, the original mandate has not changed. Light for the Lost still exists for one purpose — to put evangelism resources into the hands of missionaries so that the lost can hear, believe, and be saved.
